ICOM Committee for Conservation (ICOM-CC), with over 1400 members worldwide organised its 15th Triennial Meeting in New Delhi from 22-26 September 2008. This is for the first time that in any Asian country the ICOM-CC meeting was held . The theme of the conference was Diversity in heritage conservation: Tradition, innovation and participation. National Research Laboratory for Conservation (NRLC) of Lucknow was the official host and organiser of the conference. An apex committee was formed under the Chairmanship of the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, which included the Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism; Director Generals of National Museum, Archaeological Survey of India and National Archive of India; Joint Secretary (Museums), Department of Culture, Govt. of India; Member-Secretary, Indira Gandhi Centre for Arts; Nominee of INTACH and Chairman, Indian National Committee of ICOM. Director, NRLC -- Dr. M.V. Nair had been nominated as the Member Secretary of the Committee. Approximate participation cost for each participant was over Rs.30,000/- |

'Protection of Cultural Property: Copyright Act & Antiquarian Laws' was held on 25 &26 MAR 2006 at Santiniketan, West Bengal. The workshop was jointly organised by INC-ICOM with Rabindra Bhavana, Nandan Museum and Museum of Department of Archaeology and Ancient Indian History, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan. On 25 MAR 2006 - the workshop was held from 3.30 p.m. to 6

Inauguration of the official web site of INC-ICOM The official web site of INC-ICOM (www.inc-icom.org) was inaugurated at the Annual General Conference, on 18th May, 2002 by Shri N. Gopalaswami, IAS, Secretary, Culture, Govt. of India. It was inaugurated in presence of Ms. Chandana Khan, IAS, Secretary, Tourism, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh as the Guest-of-honour along with other dignatories. Shri N. Gopalaswami, also inaugurated the celebration of International Museum Day, 2002 and a threeday seminar & workshop on 'Museums and Globalisation', at Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad. The web site was designed by Mr. Partha S. Mukherjee (designer of the official websites of Victoria Memorial, Kolkata; Indian Museum and and National Library of India,) and the site was donated to INC-ICOM by M/S Cyber Animatrix Pvt. Ltd. |
